Hayashi and Company of Nagasaki, Japan, has the
plan of conducting fishery with ten motor-boats on the
high sea extending about 150 to 250 miles South-West of
the Island of Hong Kong, and, in connection to the project,
they desire to have headquarters of the activities here
in Hong Kong with this port as the base of their fishing
boats by the special permission of the Colonial Government.
Their object in the proposed industry is to supply to
the inhabitants of this Colony with various kinds of fishes at the lowest possible price, in view of present
shortage of such food supply. They state that they have
no objection on the participation of Chinese, if there is
any such, in their enterprise, and that they are consider-
ing also of employing Chinese as staff officials of the
Company.

Further details of their plan are as follows:-
Agent in Hong Kong of the Company will be Yokose
and Company.
2. Method of fishing is by operating motor boats
drawing a fishing net at its bottom.
3. Number of motor boats (tonnage 45 tons, 80 horse
powers, and number of the crew 10 for each) to
be employed for the proposed fishery is ten, each two of which forming one group.
4. Humber of trips of each group will be three per
month.
